Bollywood Dance

The Mumbai-based Hindi language film industry in India is informally, and very popularly, known as Bollywood. A very important bollywood dancecomponent of almost every Bollywood film is dance and music. Bollywood songs compliment or provide a musical commentary on the action taking place in the movie. From celebrations like a wedding to a tragedy like death, a courtship scene to passionate expression of love, dream sequence to flashbacks, Bollywood song and dance sequences depict all this and more.

When you watch a Bollywood film or a dance sequence, you will be amazed at the agility and grace with which a hero or heroine can move to the rhythm! Often, their dances are complemented by a whole ensemble that performs with them. You can learn to dance like that at Sanskriti Arts. Laurie Cumming, one of our students says, “I didn't ever believe that my middle-aged body was capable of learning this rigorous and beautiful style of dance.  Not only that, but the music is amazing and the class is a lot of fun!” Read more...

To learn, practice and perform Bollywood dance on stage with the Sanskriti Arts Ensemble, register for a Bollywood Dance Class at a location near you. Give us a call if you need more information and we’ll be glad to assist!
